With healthy ambition, the desire to start something of their own and the thought “We can do this too, but better!”, Daniël Zuiverloon and Jaap van de Coevering started their own IT recruitment agency. Tribe28 was founded in 2018 and the company grew rapidly in a short time. Our office, located at Overtoom in Amsterdam, is where the Tribe28 team plays matchmaker between clients and candidates every day, just like Cupid.

A little structure is always nice, but one assurance that can be made in the world of recruitment is that every day is unpredictable. It’s all about finding and bringing together a good candidate who is currently looking for the next step in their career with a client who is hunting for new talent. And the short and fast work cycles you’re dealing with, meeting and speaking with all kinds of people, and the continuous switching between clients and candidates is exactly what makes recruitment so much fun.

Who is Tribe28?

Pigeonholing is human as it makes it easier to keep an overview. But, like Jaap always says: “Predictability is boring.” Describing the Tribe28 culture is hard since the characteristics don’t fit in the same row. With a big fighting spirit, passion and the (organized) chaos to persevere, the Tribe28 team has the will to score and be successful in achieving their goals together. “Whereas Jaap has more of an eye for the long term and is better at bringing different parties together, I see commercial opportunities sooner and I get satisfaction from making deals,” says Daniël. Jaap: “Ultimately, it’s about the successes that we manage to achieve as a team every week and month. Especially when it’s something that we didn’t expect in advance, but eventually managed to do and with which we outshine ourselves.”

Why Tribe28?

We could provide a nice story that tells you everything about what sets Tribe28 apart from other recruitment agencies, but down the line all agencies basically do the same. It’s our approach that makes clients and candidates want to work with us. We are honest and transparent in what we do, and we find it important to involve both parties during the process. We set the bar high, so we think it’s important to deliver quality. This has been confirmed multiple times in the feedback we’ve received from our clients and candidates. In the end, it remains a game to bring together supply and demand at the right time. “For that you not only have to be sharp, but you also need to have the will to score and be open to achieving the goals together.”

Our method

At Tribe28 we work agile, just like many teams in the tech world. That’s because it has been proven that visualizing your work improves cooperation, ensures a better understanding of what everyone is doing and so that we can help each other where necessary. Because of this, we start our morning together at the day start and after that we get to work. Some of us start searching, someone else has an intake planned, sometimes we have appointments outside the door: every day can look different for everyone. We end the afternoon with a short closing of the day to evaluate and share what we have achieved.

Future

Every company has their challenges. For Tribe28 it’s growing. Not only as an organization growing a larger team, but also with the amount of placements, more contractors, and being acknowledged and recognized in and by a bigger market. But there is also plenty to be proud of! Looking back on the past few years, we have built a great team that knows how to combine fun and hard work into successes. And that should be rewarded, for example by the team outings, the well-known Friday afternoon drinks and the workations that we have already held together several times.
